Little DevilsTM Delights started in a Blackwood kitchen in the beautiful Adelaide Hills.
Using local produce to create tasty chocolate and savoury treats for our daughter with allergies to nuts, egg, milk and wheat.
I started trying different products to replace egg in particular as it's a great binding agent, and before too long, I was making muffins, cup cakes and slices using pumpkin, carrot and other vegetables mashed or pureed.
To ensure she didn't miss out when going to a birthday or kindy party, I made batches of my treats and took along a plate for everyone to share, letting her know "these cakes won't make you sick or itchy". The take up of these by the other children and mum's (plus the occasional Mr Mum) was phenomenal and now I have to keep a couple aside to ensure we get some!
With feedback from everyone about how lovely they were and that we should be selling them, we decided now was the time to do exactly that.
With fussy eaters, it can be quite challenging to get vegetables into them, even when disguised in savoury minces or gravy. So with chocolate as a teaser to get them to eat their "treat", I feel a warm glow when I see my little girl eating her cherry choc slice "desert treat" knowing she's getting a dose of vegetables too. It also encourages her to finish her dinner to get her "treat".
We can't guarantee to please every fussy eater out there, but every little bit helps.
We have also had requests from some senior citizens who have trouble with the "hard" vegetables as well as diabeties. All the best and good luck.
